  3. Do I really need to register?
No, registering is not a must. You can store tracks on the server, retrieve them using GPS/J or send to other users without setting the login and password. You will get warnings ("no nick name") which you may ignore. The profile is created during the first usage of the Portal. Registering (binding the login with S/N) is needed to receive tracks from other users or to make use of reach Portal functionality (export to different formats, upload, making tracks public).

  6. What to do after upgrade?
After having upgraded the application you have to change the S/N in your Portal profile. Otherwise you will not have access from the application to tracks gathered before the upgrade as the new JAR will be bound to another activation key. Any action initiated from the application will create a new profile on the Portal. If you have to make use of the Portal before changing the profile, you may send all new objects to the previous profile afterwards, remove the new one, and change the S/N in the old profile to the new one.

  7. How to ban receiving objects from a user?
By default every one can send you tracks or waypoints. But your privacy is secured as the sender must know your login to be able to send you tracks or waypoints. If you don't want to receive tracks from a user, you can put his/her login on the blacklist. Just click on "black list" link on the track/waypoint list page.

  9. How to resolve IO errors?
Version 2.7 uses sockets to communicate with Portal server, which is a source of potential problems. With 2.8 http connections have come, but you can check if you have correctly configured the midlet connection profile to bypass eg. the WAP gateway.
